"The young woman was lovely and beautiful." Esther 2:7
Beauty Secret Revealed! How often do we see that or some other similar catchphrase gracing the title of some popular women's magazine lining the grocery store check out? It's unavoidable and most of us, if we're honest with ourselves, glance at the magazine cover just to see what it says. "Lose ten pounds in a week." How? Hmmmm... Maybe I should just scan the article to find out! The airbrushed, cellulite-free, perfect image on the cover often leaves us feeling a little despondent. The feelings of imperfection soon begin to take over. Before we know it, our focus on buying groceries shifts to our untoned arms. Sigh....
Admittedly, I've fallen into the same trap. I've been through stages of exercising myself into oblivion, falling into the lie that my self worth can only be found in a size 2. Never splurging on anything, exercising constantly. I was 13% body fat and in prime physical condition. I could do more consecutive push-ups than most men. Yet something didn't feel right. As I pushed myself to the next challenge, I kept feeling a lack of peace. God was calling me to slow down. He was calling me to be still in Him. He was calling me to shift my focus. As I kept pushing myself, He allowed a running injury to help me reevaluate my focus. I had no choice but to slow down. I'll be forever thankful for that opportunity.
You see, the few rare times when we see a woman's beauty mentioned in scripture, (Sarai, Rebekah, Esther...) we see so much more than physical outward beauty. Within her is a radiant beauty shining. God fills her with His beauty and it shines through her for all to see. It's a breathtaking sight to behold.
I've seen Hollywood starlets who were gorgeous at first glance only to see ugliness come out in an interview. I went from finding them beautiful to not being able to watch them on screen any longer. I've also seen women who may not have been considered beautiful by Hollywood standards become exquisite in my eyes the more I got to know them. In such cases, not only did I find their personalities appealing, but they also became more beautiful in every sense of the word.
Ladies, there is so much more to this life than how you measure up physically. Our opinion of ourselves is a battle that rages within most of us except for the few who have reached that amazing level of spiritual maturity where it no longer matters (like my own precious mother). Sadly, we place more emphasis on the outside than the inside. You know, we can mow the grass in our yard and it looks neat and clean for awhile, but if we don't water and fertilize it, it will begin to turn brown and die. What was once beautiful will no longer be.
If your priorities are out of focus, take time to prayerfully reevaluate. Ask God to grow you spiritually. Ask Him to help you radiate His light through you. Ask Him to get you to a point in your life where when people see you, you aren't the first thing they notice. Instead what they see is Jesus. It's a growing process and I'll be the first to admit that I still have a long way to go. Let's make it our goal together.
Lastly, for those of you with daughters, carefully instill in them a sense of self-worth found only in the Lord. They will face so much in terms of appearance as they get older. Most likely, they will be their own worst critics. Many young girls fall into eating disorders or dressing provocatively to catch the attention of young boys. Our instruction, along with the model we provide in how we conduct ourselves will help steer them in the right direction.
Father, this was a tough one for me to write. It's not always easy for me to put myself out there. However, I'm so thankful you've brought me to a place in my life where I realize human opinions don't matter as long as I'm righteous in your eyes. Lord, thank You for bringing me to this point. Thank you for freeing me from that bondage. Yet Father, I realize it is an ongoing battle. Help me and other women keep our priorities in perspective. I pray that we'll use our bodies, Your vessel for those of us who know You, to bring glory and honor to You. Grow us, Lord. Grant us guidance in our daily lives. Help us with that most difficult area: balance. Lastly, Father, I pray that as we seek Your will we'll feel encouraged to keep going. Father, so often we feel like we aren't getting it right. We feel like we don't measure up. We question ourselves. Help us, Lord. May we find our confidence in You. Thank You for being our guide. Thank You for the power of the Holy Spirit to direct and convict us when necessary. Most importantly, thank You so much for loving us just as we are. In Jesus' name, Amen.

United in Christ
"For where two or three come together in my name there I am with them" Matthew 18:20
Life. It sure is unpredictable. We don't know what each minute holds. We make our plans and go about our days not knowing what's in store from one minute to the next. I'm so glad to know my Savior goes before me directing my paths. My Lord knows all and promises to work all things for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. I love that promise! It doesn't promise that all things will always be good, but that He'll work it out for good and for His glory.
I got up this morning with a big smile on my face. Thins have been good lately and I praise God for the blessings. Within a few hours I received one bad news event after another. So many people are in need of prayer right now. Prayers for job loss, serious injuries, sickness without explanation, and some unspoken requests as well. All requests were lifted up in prayer and my heart went out to each and every one. I felt God's peace wash over me as I know He hears all petitions lifted in reverence and faithfulness in his Name. Beyond the peace, something else really touched me. I thought about how I'd shared some requests with people who didn't know the people for whom I was praying and yet they prayed anyway. What a sweet picture of Christlike love among brothers and sisters. How marvelous it is to know that people in different parts of the country and world are praying for people they've never met. Yet they pray for them as they would a family member. We who are in Christ are family.
We see bad things on the news or hear of a need and we pray. It doesn't matter if we know the people or not. We just pray. There are people on my prayer list from east coast to west coast, from France to Ecuador. Some of these folks I don't even know. But God knows them and He loves each one. Pretty neat to say I have family all over the world!
A few weeks ago, a sweet sister in Christ at my church hugged me and told me she was praying for me. That's the greatest thing anyone could ever share with me. I never feel more loved by others than when I know they've taken the time to lift me up in prayer.
Let us pray for one another!
Heavenly Father, thank you so much for my family in Christ. Thank you for the bond we share. Thank you for giving us the freedom to communicate with you through the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, you know my burdens and fears. You have the power to heal. You alone know each individual on my prayer list. And you alone care for them beyond human capability. Thank you for hearing our prayers. We trust you with them and know that you'll work things our for our benefit-- whether good or bad in our own eyes. We don't always understand, but we trust you. You see things we don't. We love you, Father. In the Savior's name, Amen.

"Living An Uncommon Life"
"Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?....... Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego who sent His Angel and delivered His servents who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! Therefore, I make a decree that my people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this." Daniel 3:14, 28,29.
Our church is currently doing a series called "Uncommon." It's a series pertaining to how we're expected to carry out the gospel here on earth according to the word of God. We're focusing on Romans 12 about not being conformed to sinful ways but being transformed by God's Word and His decrees. We are to live lives pleasing to Him. We are to live unapologetically according to His Word which is our Authority. The series has probably been my favorite of all series' I've heard.
A few nights ago, I was putting the children to bed and my daughter asked me to read the story of the fiery furnace. It's one of her favorite stories. So, we opened the bible to the book of Daniel and read. For any who are unfamiliar with the story, the tyrant King Nebuchadnezzar had an approximate 100ft tall gold statue built and decreed that all citizens must bow down and worship this statue. Any who refused to worship the statue would be cast into a fiery furnace. Well, some Chaldeans approached the king and ratted out Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego saying they refused to worship the golden image. Nebuchadnezzar became enraged and demanded they be thrown into the furnace. Yet before he did, he was so angry he demanded the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. He wanted to be certain the men would be burned before all. Yet, before he threw them in, he gave them a chance at some last words. He gave them a chance to submit to his authority so he might be able to give them a break. Their response? Verses 16-18: "O, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." Wow!!! What a response! Here these men were surrounded by everyone else bowing down and worshipping this image. Yet they refused. They not only withstood being ostracized socially, they risked their lives. They knew the stakes yet refused to budge. What conviction!!!
We paused to talk over that section about what we would do in that situation. Not what we know to be right... but what would we do??? After a few moments of discussion, we continued reading. As we continued reading (almost in recitation as this is one of my daughter's favorite bible stories!), we saw the men enter the furnace. An Angel "like the Son of God" (perhaps the preincarnate Christ Himself) was seen in the furnace with the men. He had come to protect them. They exited the furnace without even the slightest smell of smoke on them!! Then came our FAVORITE part! King Nebuchadnezzar came back and declared there would be no other gods before the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. All would now worship the One and Only true God!
Reflect with me for a moment. What if the story had taken a different course? Suppose Daniel's friends would've decided to conform? What if they would've blended into the crowd like the rest and chosen to just bow down to the image anyway? What would've been the outcome? Instead, they chose to do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Look what happened! The king and all citizens were now worshipping God. Prior to that, they didn't know God. Now, because of these three men, a mass of people worshipped God! All because they chose not to conform.
A remarkable story which still resonates with me and I''m sure with many others is the story of Cassie Bernall in the 1999 Columbine school shootings. When the gunman asked who believed in God, she boldly proclaimed her faith knowing the consequences. What conviction. As a child of God, she knew she couldn't separate her identify from Him. She belonged to Him and there was no way she could've answered any differently.
Fortunately, most us aren't faced with anything like a fiery furnace or impending death. Our choices are typically much easier. Yet how often do we really stand firm in our convictions? How often do we take the time to get to know people and tell them about Jesus? Do we quietly sneak away so as to not make a scene? Christ sure didn't hide, did He? He didn't blend into the crowds. He would've never been called "Common". What would the average person say about you?
Father, this is tough subject matter. Honestly, Lord, it can be scary to go against the grain. I know I often deal with anxiety in this area. Will people think I'm a fanatic? Will they think I'm a weirdo? Will they even listen to what I have to say? God, I know I have to leave these things up to You. Your word tells me I am not to fear men. I have to ask for Your guidance so the delivery will come straight from You. If I do it by myself, I'll get nowhere. Help me to rely solely on You. You're powerful and Mighty to save through Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for Your faithfulness. In Christ's name, Amen.

An Earthly Covenant
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24
Well, I'm continuing to go through my three year study of the Bible. The study began with the first portion of the book of Luke and has taken me into Genesis. So, this morning I focused on chapters one and two of Genesis. It's so much to take in. The creation is so far beyond human comprehension-- particularly that of male and female.
I was a little perplexed when I was studying this morning. I looked at how God spoke everything into creation until the creation of humans. He took special care to form Adam and then performed the first surgery to create Eve from Adam. It was a wonderful demonstration of how human life is valued by God above all else. We are formed in His image, not meaning we look like Him, but that we are reflections of His majesty. However, what I found confusing was all the creating was done and then something seemed haphazardly thrown in about a man leaving his parents and cleaving to his wife. "What does that have to do with creation?", I wondered. It just seems out of place among the other passages. Then, as I pondered over it for awhile I began to see it as part of the creation process. It was all part of God's ordination. I began to see that Adam yearned for a partner. He had spent much time and effort naming animals and was unable to find a helper suitable for him. God saw this was not good. Up to that point, God had decided everything else was good. Then, God saw that it wasn't good that there was nothing suitable with which Adam could be paired. So, with great intricacy, God put Adam into a deep sleep and took a vital part of Adam and used it to create Eve. What an incredible bond! What a sacred bond. This was the first wedding ceremony. Though there was no father or mother for Adam or Eve to leave, there was emphasis on the marriage bond from the beginning. It demonstrated God's perfect plan for marriage.
Prior to the creation of Eve, Adam had nothing like himself. Then, there was this marvelous creature who was made like him and for him. God put them together and the union was ordained. If we really think about it, the only other ordained, covenant relationship Christians have is the relationship we have with Jesus Christ. And the only earthly covenant relationship humans have which is within God's ordinance is a marriage between a man and woman. So, even from the point of creation, God is commanding us to protect that relationship. It is to have priority over all other relationships under the covenant relationship with Christ Himself!
I'm sure there are some reading who may not be married and perhaps thinking this doesn't apply. It does, though. Because this scripture not only commands husbands and wives to protect the marriage but also demonstrates to ALL the covenant of marriage. This means that we are to respect other marriages as well. We aren't to do or say anything to interfere with that God-ordained bond. Parents, friends, siblings and all others must support that which God joined together. To come between that earthly covenant is to interfere with something which God proclaimed as good. Therefore, we must do our part in protecting marriages-- our own and those around us.
If married, pray over your marriage and God's protection over it. Pray that Jesus would be at the center of that relationship. Pray for God to reveal to you what you need to do to cultivate and grow that relationship under Him. If you're not married, pray for marriages around you. Take care to note that God joined the couple as one. Though they are two separate individuals, the union between them is of great importance to God-- exceeding the relationship between parents and their children.
Unfortunately, the world does a pretty good job of tearing apart that covenant relationship. It has been distorted and defiled. We must take great care to protect marriages and families and support that which God has proclaimed good.
Lord, your creation is marvelous. You placed the earth in just the right position. You gave us night and day, stars, animals, and so much more. Everything You created was created by grand design. There were no mistakes. What an incredible master plan! Lord thank you for marriage and the unique bond that comes with it. Father, the enemy seeks to destroy that bond. We pray for your protection over our marriages and our families. We pray that You'll be at the center of our families. Lord, we pray we will reflect your majesty as purposed by Your grand design. In the holy, precious, and marvelous name of Jesus, Amen.

"One Way Street"
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6
I have a little confession to make. I have a terrible sense of direction. If I have to travel somewhere unfamiliar without a map or GPS system I panic. I've gotten a little better in the last two years because of relocating to an area with which I was unfamiliar. When my husband took the GPS system with him, I was left to figure it out. I found myself excited to share the shortcuts I'd find when I was left to feel my way.
Yesterday, I chaperoned a field trip with my son. We took a visit to our state capital and a few surrounding museums. The drive was a two hour drive to an area where I've not traveled often. My husband gave me the GPS to use in case I was separated from the caravan. The first hour and 45 minutes was an easy leg of the trip. It was all highway and was a straight shot. There were probably 20 cars in the caravan along with the buses and I was holding up the rear. I saw a lot of the cars scooting around me to make sure they were in line with the caravan. They obviously did not want to be separated. As I looked at my GPS, I relaxed. I figured, "How hard can this be?" I'm just gonna relax and hang back. I'm not going to sweat this. Well, as we came to the last leg of the trip, the GPS was directing me to get off at a particular exit. I remembered the exit as I had traveled it once before with my husband. However, no one in front of me had a turn signal on. They looked like they weren't in a position to get over. So, I was left with no time for hesitation. The traffic was heavy and hesitation could easily bring an accident. What was I to do? Follow the caravan or turn at the exit which I knew to be the right one? I turned. I took the exit and proceeded about 500 feet to see another car from the caravan. Within minutes, I arrived at the destination. I found myself waiting in anticipation for another 15 minutes for the rest of the group to arrive.
I'll admit, that was an anxious moment for us. A handful of us were left standing in the parking lot wondering where the others were. When they arrived, we asked what happened. The bus driver said he'd been unable to get over in the far right lane to turn off so he was forced to go up a little further and then backtrack to get to our destination. He'd had no choice.
Fortunately in life, we do have a choice. We can choose to go the popular way or the way we know to be the only way. God's word says in no uncertain terms that Jesus is the way and that no one can have eternal life without surrendering to that way. In life, there are no other exits, no other routes you can take which will help you arrive at that destination. There's only one. You either choose to surrender your life to Christ and follow God's will or you go your own way. God leaves the choice to you. You have the free will to choose. He's not an unjust God as many see Him. In fact, many wonder why He would condemn people to a life in hell. He doesn't. He has given us a way out. We have the free will to choose Him. Yet many of us seek another way. We think there might be a shortcut or one without obstacles. Yet to seek other routes is vanity. It's a dead end.
If you haven't made the choice to go the only way, what are you going to do with that? You have free will over your eternal destiny. What will you choose? Don't wait. From experience, I can tell you we don't know how much time we have left. We assume we'll live long lives, but we don't know. We don't know what tomorrow holds. And what about your friends and loved ones? Have you shared this truth with them? If not, why wait? You're accountable for the fruit you bear. Pray for opportunities and as Luke 12:12 says, that God will give you the words to say in that time. There's no better time than now.
Father, I wept yesterday as I heard on the radio about a local soldier being killed during his deployment last week. What a devastation to his friends and family. Yet Father, if He knew you, He is now complete. Oh, how I hope that is the case. Lord, it made me realize once again how precious our time is here. We have to seize every opportunity. I pray over the lost. I pray over those who have tried to choose other paths. Convict them, Lord. I pray that I can be in a place where You can use me for Your glory. Draw us to You. Convict us to desire to bear fruit for Your kingdom. Thank you for giving us a way to You. You loved us enough to sacrifice Your Son so that we can have a way. You could've turned Your back on our sin. You could've given us what we deserve instead of the opportunity for eternal glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Taming the Beast Commonly known as the Tongue!
"Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful in building others up, according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29
I recently heard about a new trend among young pastors just finishing up seminary and finding congregations to which they feel called to minister. The trend is nothing short of shocking and disturbing and is absolutely contrary to the Word. Apparently a new movement has come about where these young pastors want to seem real to the congregation. Seems harmless enough, right? Well, here's the clincher: In a very human effort to appear real, they've decided it is necessary to use foul, coarse language from the pulpit. They've decided that because we're under God's grace, it's fine to just let it slip at random when addressing the congregation. Unfortunately, they seem to be overlooking what scripture tells us in the midst of this human attempt. This movement has no regard for the warning we're given in Romans 12:1-2. The bottom line is this can be confusing to nonbelievers and those new to the faith as well. The only way to clear any confusion is to always trust the Word and what it says. It doesn't lie and will give you the clarity on such untruths each and every time.
I shook my head in amazement when I heard about that trend and then thought about how prevalent unwholesome talk is on a smaller scale in our lives. Ladies, we're the worst. I can't begin to count the number of times where I've walked into a room where a group of women were gathered in faint whispers and grew quiet when I approached or when the person who was the topic of conversation entered the room. It was painfully obvious there was gossip in the midst. Whether the person in question was me or someone else, it was awkward and unnecessary.
We're all guilty of saying things we wish we could take back. Sometimes we're gonna say things we shouldn't. But far too many of us make it a habit and even incite others to join in the gossip and tearing down of others. If you struggle with it, consider the following before opening your mouth: 1) Is what you're about to say unwholesome? Is is coarse? Does it have the propensity to hurt another whether true or untrue? 2) Does it build others up? Is it encouraging? and 3) Will your listeners benefit from what you're about to say? If your answer is "no" to those questions, then put a lid on it! If you struggle with letting things fly, ask the Holy Spirit to convict you each time you're about to say something you shouldn't. While the saying "Actions speak louder than words" is very true, words stick with us. Your coarse language may be overheard by vulnerable ears and your gossip can emotionally scar someone for life.
Strive to be a light to others. Strive to be a person where people feel comfortable confiding in you. Be a woman where others know they can come to you for advice and they won't be put down, slandered or betrayed. If you're that woman, you're pleasing in the sight of the Lord. Why? Because you're representative of Jesus. You're demonstrating love for others when you refuse to have any part in gossip. You're showing maturity when you see the futility in coarse talk. You're exuding the character of God.
So, I have a challenge for you, the next time you're tempted to use coarse language or speak poorly of someone else, find something positive to say instead. In place of foul language, quote scripture. In place of gossip, ask God to show you something kind you can say about them. Replace the negative with positive. The more you do this, the more aware you'll become of the habit. It will no longer be a habit because you'll be convicted each time the opportunity arises.
There's a tremendous amount of power in your tongue. You have to make the decision as to whether you will choose that power from God or from the enemy. Remember this: When you make conscious decisions on a regular basis to contradict scripture with your words and actions, you're at enmity with God. That means you're choosing to be His enemy with your choices. That's a heavy thought, but necessary.
Heavenly Father, I know there have been times in my life where I've hurt others with my words. Please convict me and reveal them to me that I may repent and ask your forgiveness and then go to the person I offended and ask forgiveness. Father, you want us to live peaceably with each other. We are not to be slanderers or loose-tongued. I pray that we would seek to be women above reproach. I pray that unsaved women reading this would understand clearly that the power of which I speak comes solely from You. Father, help them to have a desire to know you personally. For we know we can never be pleasing to You if we never know you personally and you won't accept us if we choose to ignore the call to be in a relstionship with You. And Father, for those who know you but choose to be loose-tongued, please help them to seek wisdom from You in choosing their words carefully. Help us to have a desire to be pleasing to You. Help us to remain mindful of the impact our words have on others. Thank you, Father. We thank you for your forgiveness where we fail. But we ask you to grow us so that we won't willfully sin because of your forgiveness. Please give us a broken heart when we fail you with our words and actions and make it our pure desire to please you. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

Happy Mother's Day!!
"Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come; She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her." Proverbs 31:25-28 NKJV
Happy Mother's Day to all the sweet moms out there! Mother's Day is a day of fond memories for some, hugs, kisses and homemade cards for others, and grief over a mother who's passed on for others. So, for those of you grieving today, please accept my condolences and I hope you're able to reflect on fond memories of your mother.
This morning I awoke to my daughter climbing in my bed wanting to know when I was getting up. She gave me big hugs and kisses and grinned at me with her snaggle-toothed smile. Her eyes were dancing with delight in presenting me with my Mother's Day card and gift. So, I put on my bathrobe and shuffled in a groggy haze toward the kitchen. As I peered over into the great room, I could see my son, weary from lack of sleep from a bad virus, bidding me a good morning with a weary half-smile. As I looked on the kitchen table, I found some cards and pictures from the children. Then my eyes fell on a tote bag they had gotten me. It was a blue and brown striped bag with the following words inscribed on the front in a pretty embroidery: "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28" I loved it! I felt the need to reflect on those words while my husband and daughter made their way to church while I stayed home with our sick son.
After breakfast, ironing clothes, fixing hair and getting my two out the door, I sat down to really look at that scripture. I prayed over it and pondered the meaning in my own life. I started by backing up a few verses: "Strength and honor are her clothing." What a beautiful portrait. She's a woman who finds her strength in the Lord and remains honorable in her actions. She models this for her husband and children and it takes precedence in her life. She has no concern with how the world views her but carries herself with dignity. She's one who refuses to be conformed to the world and finds worth in bringing glory to God.
I read on.... "She will rejoice in time to come". It didn't say that she would find complete fulfillment everyday in her earthly duties. It didn't say she would always be blissful. It said she would rejoice in time to come. Oh, yes, there are many wonderful, blissful moments along the way. We have moments of sheer delight in our house just being playful with one another. We cuddle, we sing, we play together. However, there are times when we wonder if we're getting it right. Just when I think my kids are getting it--- just when I think the lesson has been learned, they revert to old ways. I could easily grow weary in that. Yet this verse promises I will rejoice. I must keep doing what God has called me to do and THEN I'll rejoice. In the meantime, I completely enjoy and embrace the quality moments!
"She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness." This is a woman who seeks discernment in the Lord. She thinks before she speaks and she chooses her words carefully. She is known for her wisdom-- not intellect-- but godly wisdom. She doesn't spend her time in gossip. She builds others up. She's loved by others for her sweet spirit. Others trust her with secrets. They trust her advice. How marvelous! I personally know women like this. My own mother is one of them. I never hear her gossip, She keeps my confidence and she's careful with her advice. Women in her workplace seek her out for encouragement, prayer and advice.
"She watches over the ways of her household and she does not eat the bread of idleness." Now first, I do want to point out that this woman can come across as a robot if we don't carefully look at these scriptures. If we read through the entire Proverb, we can feel like failures. Who can accomplish all this in one day? Look at verse 15 and see that she has maidservants. She does have help. Whew! We can take heart in knowing we're not expected to be superwomen who never sleep! What this verse is telling us is she makes the most of her time. She's not spending her days in frivolity but making the most of the assignment the Lord has given her. She's greatly respected for it.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also and he praises her." How sweet this one is. Unfortunately, it's not always true, is it? There are times when I've spent a lot of time cooking what I think is a wonderful home-cooked meal only to find my children pushing it around on their plates with their forks. They're not exactly singing my praises at those moments. There are times when I'm setting the timer for them to get homework done and they certainly aren't blessing me with words of gratitude. Then there are moments like this morning. I get up and look at the snaggle-toothed smile, the sweet hug from my husband, and the fatigued, half-grin from my son and I do know they "call me blessed." I hear my husband tell others how fortunate he is. I hear the praises. In those times, I know I can keep running the race.
Women, you may be in a difficult situation right now where you don't feel bliss today. You wonder about the point in it all. Take heart, for this scripture promises you WILL rejoice! Even if your efforts seem to go unnoticed, there's a God who sees. He taking account of all of it. Great will be your reward in heaven. You are precious. Your model for those children is of the utmost importance. They see you and they take it in. Your husband may not show it, but he'll respect you for it. Keep running the race.
God bless you all and I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day!
Loving, Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for a day that honors godly mothers. Father, we know the importance of a mother. We know what a difference she makes when we see the care and concern Jesus had for his own mother when He was on the cross. In His dying hour, He wanted to make sure His mother would be cared for. She had worth. Father, thank You for the worth we have in You. Thank You for the opportunity You've given us to help fulfill Your plan. Lord, bless the mothers today. I pray they would feel cherished and loved. Help them to know the love You have for them. Thank you. In Jesus' glorious name, Amen.
